SOMOS Experiences turns the Repsol Technology Trends Summit 2025 into an intergalactic journey

The Repsol Technology Lab became the operational base for an unprecedented stellar mission. Under the name Technology Trends Summit 2025 | Sci-Fi Edition, Repsol held a new edition of its flagship innovation event, this time in a radically different format: an immersive experience where science fiction was the language and real technology provided the content.

A full-service event crafted by SOMOS Experiences
The event’s complete design and production were developed by SOMOS Experiences, who embraced the challenge of taking innovation to a new narrative level. The result was a day that combined cutting-edge knowledge with a sensory, emotional, and visual experience worthy of a galactic blockbuster.

A science fiction narrative to tell real science
Inspired by great space missions, the event adopted an episodic narrative structure. Guided by presenter Helena de Fuentes, transformed into an interplanetary agent, and JAL MMXXV, an AI with its own voice and personality, attendees—including employees, industry experts, specialised press, and science communicators—experienced the event as a galactic series unfolding in chapters.

One of SOMOS Experiences’ major creative achievements was the scenographic design, which broke all conventions: a stage inspired by the interior of a spaceship, with a control cabin from which the technological journey was directed. The immersive screens not only projected the presentations but also allowed attendees to “travel” through space in search of experts sharing the latest sector trends.

Each transition between episodes was represented by the iconic hyperspace jump reminiscent of Star Wars, with stars stretching into streaks of light, enveloping the audience in the sensation of soaring through the cosmos while learning.

Expert talks, live demonstrations, and themed audiovisual support were all integrated into a single narrative that connected emotion and knowledge, appealing to the universal fascination with space exploration.

A mission that began long before liftoff
The experience was activated days in advance with a teaser campaign that creatively intervened in the Campus Repsol and Repsol Technology Lab spaces through messages inspired by classic science fiction films.

Anticipation grew with the release of a digital invitation featuring a key question: “Which science fiction character represents your alter ego?” This small clue became part of a narrative that would surprise attendees during the cocktail reception, where an AI-powered photo booth allowed them to visualise the galactic alter ego they had previously chosen.

This digital journey, also managed by the SOMOS team, turned the pre-event phase into an integral part of the mission itself.

From the very first contact, attendees were welcomed as true space explorers.

"Welcome aboard. The exploration of future technology begins here."

The tone was clear: this was not a conventional conference, but the start of a shared story. As in any great mission, the initial narrative drive was provided by a cinematic trailer, marking the emotional and visual liftoff of the day.

Living technology and full interaction
The programme included moments as disruptive as the Testing Moment, a live demonstration of real technological innovation involving interaction with a humanoid robot.

In addition, an interactive dynamic was integrated through the SLIDO app, featuring real-time questions combining technical knowledge with references to iconic science fiction films, fostering complicity, fun, and active participation.

A pit stop… with flavours from another galaxy
Midway through the mission, the presenter announced, with galactic humour, that it was time to “refuel”, giving way to a themed cocktail that extended the experience into the sensory realm. Each dish bore the name of a constellation, planet, or fictional space creature, concealing its true identity behind an encrypted design.

Only with the provided anaglyph glasses—distributed as an exploration tool—could attendees decipher the real ingredients, transforming the cocktail into a playful, multisensory, and highly shareable experience.

With this mission, Repsol and SOMOS Experiences not only explored the future—they made it tangible, surprising, and memorable.
